More Than Fine

When you run into an old acquaintance, or see a coworker when you first get in to work, or receive a quick text from a friend, and they ask, “Hey, how are you?” what is your go-to response?

I know that often, the general response from most people is something along the lines of, “Oh, I’m fine!” – or any variation thereof: “Hanging in there!”, “I’m doing alright”, “I’m okay” (with perhaps a forced smile), etc.

Why is that?

Sometimes it’s due to the fact that we don’t want to “burden” others with our troubles.

Sometimes it’s due to the fact that we are really struggling, but don’t know how to ask for help.

And sometimes it’s due to the simple fact that we truly are just “fine”.

Imagine a scenario where something great has just happened in your life – you received exciting news about an offer you put on a house…you were able to fit into a smaller pair of jeans when you out shopping…you got a significant raise…etc – and immediately after, someone asks you how you’re doing. How is your response different this time? I bet it’d go something like this:

“Oh my heavens, I am doing SO good! I’m just feeling really amazing, and so blessed right now!”

SUCH a different vibe, right? So elevated and positive!

Well – what if that could be your response EVERY time someone asked you how you’re doing? How different would your day to day life feel if you carried that energy with you everywhere and every day?

Now, if you have the tendency to respond with an “I’m fine” response, it may seem a leeeeeeeettle out there to imagine having that kind of genuine excitement every time someone asks you how you’re doing.

But I’m telling you right now: you can have that.

In fact, you have have it right now.

All it takes is a choice.

If it sounds simple…that’s because it is. You get to choose the lens through which you view your life. For example; my life right now looks super similar to what my life looked like about three years ago. I’m a stay at home mom, my husband is in school, and I run a coaching business. However, three years ago, I was SO fixated on the difficulties of my life. I was really struggling to just keep my head above water.

But I decided that wasn’t how I wanted to feel for the rest of my life.

And I knew I didn’t want to wait to be happy. So I took action, and started practicing my agency muscles. I started choosing to see the things I was grateful for. I started choosing to see my challenges as opportunities for growth. I started choosing to see my life as a whole big picture, and seeing the message in the messes I was busy cleaning up.

It absolutely does not have to be complicated and miserable. This life was designed to be enjoyed. It was also designed to be challenging. They absolutely go hand in hand. And I would love to have a hand in your life, and to guide you through the process of practicing your agency muscles as well.

My one-on-one coaching program is launching on June 2nd (!!!), and I would love for you to apply! Just click here to do so, and I’ll be in touch with you with more details very, very soon.

And always, you can send me an email with any questions (I personally read and respond to all of my emails…I’m not fancy enough to have an assistant yet), and leave a comment below, letting me know how often you practice using your agency muscle!
