Progress Through Love

Let’s talk about progress for a second, and how it happens.

I read a quote today that really connected with my personal belief:

“A real sign of progress is when we no longer punish ourselves for our imperfections”
– Yung Pueblo

I have had this conversation with my husband a lot lately.

I believe that we can only make true progress when we do so out of love. If you’re trying to lose weight, but your approach is eating healthy foods (that you hate) and doing workouts (that you hate) as a punishment that you’re “fat”, you’re not going to make any real headway.

If you’re trying to force yourself to have positive thoughts to improve your mental and emotional health, but they’re always shadowed with cynicism, you’re not really going to improve that health.

If you want to become more organized, and you tell yourself you’re not allowed to enjoy [insert something that makes you happy here] until you have your entire house organized, it’s just not going to happen.

Trust me on these…I’ve been through them all.

When you learn to just stop punishing yourself, and find ways to do all things out of love, that is truly when growth and improvement not only happen, but stick around on a permanent basis.

So my challenge for you today is to pick one thing you’ve always wanted to improve on, and find a way to do it out of love for your own dang self.

I’d love to hear in the comments what you choose! Have an amazing day, friend.
