At the time of writing this, my main modality for coaching my clients is through thought work (stay tuned for updates, though, on future modalities I will be getting certified in very soon!).
Thought work is what has completely changed my life for the better
…which is why it is what I use to help my clients facilitate positive change in their lives.
So, what is it? It sounds pretty vague and “woo-woo”y right? Well, it actually does have science to back it up. Thought work is the process of reworking the internal processes of our minds, to change our limiting beliefs into empowering beliefs.
To get science-y on you for a second; your brain is filled to the brim with billions of nerve cells (also called neurons). These neurons are connected to each other via synapses. Each of those connections transmits an average of one signal per second. Those connections are the very processes that produce our thoughts! Pretty cool, right?
Here’s where it’s both a strength and a weakness in the same breath
Our brains like shortcuts, which means they start to form stronger connections when the same thought is presented multiple times. The more a thought presents itself, the stronger that connection gets, and the more often that thought comes up. This is really handy when it’s a useful thought…not so much when it’s a limiting belief.
You have an average of anywhere from 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day – and 95% of those are the same thoughts you had the day before. And the day before that. And the day before that. Did you read that number correctly? NINETY FIVE PERCENT! Does that open your eyes a little on how much you might just be living on autopilot?
Here’s the beautiful thing: you can choose to CHANGE that.
If you’re unhappy with anything in your life, I can almost guarantee that you can change that. You have far more control over your life than you probably realize. You may not be able to change a certain situation…but you have 100% control over everything beyond that. You get to choose your thoughts. You get to choose your feelings. You get to choose your actions. And all of those things are what form your reality. So if you’re unhappy with your reality, and you’re ready to stop living in victim mode, you’re the right place.
It takes practice. It takes time. It takes consistency. It takes failing. It takes failing some more. And then it takes more practice, more time, and more consistency.
If that sounds too difficult and daunting to you, then answer me this: what else are you going to do in the meantime? Continue living in mediocrity? Continue blaming your unhappiness on the things outside of your control? Continue living in your worst case scenario? If that sounds like what you want, then I give you all of my love, and wish you all the best.
But I’m willing to bet that is far from what you want.
And the good news is, you don’t have to go through the process of thought work alone. There are SO many options for you to get the exact level of support that you need! Just to name the options you have from me:
-
You can work with me privately (if this appeals to you, I’d recommend doing it asap before my prices increase when I get those additional certifications I mentioned at the beginning)
-
You can go through my online courses
-
Dear Body…Love, Me – to help you create a healthy relationship with your body
-
The Habit Creation Formula – to help you remove old habits and replace them with useful habits
-
-
VERY soon you’ll be able to join my free Facebook community (be sure to join my VIP email list to be notified when it’s open, which should be in less than a week at the time this is published!)
-
In the next few months, I will have my group coaching program available as well
Those are my shameless plugs. But I am also far from the only option out there. So if I’m just not quite your cup of tea, go find someone who is! It’s hard to see it when you’re at the start of the process, but I promise you, it’s worth every ounce of effort you put into it. I promise. I can’t show you, but if you allow yourself to experience it…you’ll see exactly what I mean.
If you’d like some help to clarify which direction you should take on this, go claim your free Clarity Call with me. I’ll help point you in the best direction for you (yes…even if it’s not with me).
That’s all for now, friend. Have an incredible weekend!
I’ve known Megan for several years, and I just started working with her. I knew her before she got into coaching, and I’ve seen how coaching and being coached has changed her for the better! Great article here, and it takes about 5 minutes to read!
